The desktop inventory was developed in 2014/2015 using WisDOT Photo Log and Google Earth satellite images. It is recognized that there are gaps and limitations in the data, for example interstate interchange curb ramp locations may not be identified where they intersect local roadways. A desktop inventory data validation effort determined that the initial Desktop Inventory may have been missing about 8% of the existing curb ramp locations.In 2019, DTIM implemented a process to field verify curb ramp locations and characteristics (widths, slopes, etc.). Field data is collected through Curb Ramp Location Post Construction Reports (PDF) and using the ADA Curb Ramp Data Collection (AGO) application developed by DTIM. As ramps are field checked they are added to the Curb Ramp Field Checked data layer. Curb ramp locations that have been field verified are then removed from the Desktop Inventory layer as part of a yearly update process, typically in the spring following the previous construction season.Together the Curb Ramp Desktop Inventory and the Curb Ramp Field Checked data layer provide a statewide snapshot of currently identified curb ramp locations on the STN.It is not recommended to use the Curb Ramp Desktop Inventory for project design or construction. The Curb Ramp Desktop Inventory data is suitable for providing an estimate of the number and locations of curb ramps on the STN when used in combination with the Curb Ramp Field Checked data layer.Note: “Detectable Warning Field” field means a curb ramp with truncated domes.
