This value is called the "annual average daily traffic" or AADT. AADT information is provided for a location each year the data was available. WisDOT collects continuous count data that is collected 24hrs a day, 7 days a week at approximately 300 sites statewide. At all other sites the AADT is based on a short duration traffic count, usually 48 hours. The short duration count is then statistically adjusted for the variation in traffic volume throughout the year. Short duration counts are described as preliminary or final. Preliminary data is typically the current year count and has not had a final AADT produced. WisDOT provides final AADT the spring of the following year. Short Duration counts are not collected every year – based on a variety of factors, these counts are collected on either 3-, 6-, or 10-year cycles. Axle Class counts are sites that have had a count taken that can differentiate between vehicle size. This feature layer contains the Traffic Count dataset used in the TC Map and TC Map Application.
