These estimates come from the spring acoustic Capelin survey, which is typically conducted in May and covers the majority of NAFO Division 3L, a portion of the stock area of particular importance for juvenile Capelin. Since 1996, the lower portion of Div. 3K (<50°N) has also been included in the survey. The main objective of the survey is to produce an estimate of the non-migratory, immature portion of the Capelin stock that will be recruiting to the spawning population in the following year.
