The curb ramp validation layer contains data on curb ramp locations along the State Trunk Network (STN) including connecting highways in Wisconsin. The layer was developed in 2019 and is updated continuously. The layer consists of curb ramp locations that have been checked by a crew in the field. The verification process includes the collection of GPS location and ramp characteristics (measured widths, slopes, colors, etc.). Data is entered into the layer via a Survey123 form.
The curb ramp validation layer compliments the curb ramp statewide inventory developed in 2014/2015 using WisDOT Photo Log and Google Earth satellite images. Together, the curb ramp statewide inventory and the curb ramp validation layer provide a statewide snapshot of currently identified curb ramp locations on the STN.
It is not recommended to use the curb ramp validation layer for project design or construction.
Note: As existing curb ramp locations are field verified, they are removed from the statewide inventory layer as part of a yearly update process (typically in the spring following the previous construction season).
