The River Dee is the only Special Area of Conservation (SAC) in Aberdeen City. The qualifying features are the Atlantic salmon, Freshwater pearl mussel, and Otter. Pressures include development, invasive species, water quality and water management. A Habitats Regulations Appraisal will be required and carried out by the competent authority for any plan or project that may damage the SAC.
