Election districts of Northern Virginia jurisdictions enacted during redistricting following the 2010 Decennial Census. The county/city board and council elected members represent a specific district within their county/city, unless the locality has all its members elected to represent the locality at-large. If the locality has all its members at-large then the district represents the locality's boundary. This GIS layer was developed by extracting the Virginia Geographic Information Network's (VGIN) county/city boundaries of Arlington, Alexandria, Fairfax City, Falls Church, Manassas, and Manassas Park as all of these jurisdictions have at-large districts. These areas were combined with the election district layers obtained from Prince William County, Loudoun County, and Fairfax County. The election districts obtained from Prince William, Loudoun, and Fairfax County GIS open data were adjusted slightly for purposes of aligning the districts with the VGIN county boundaries.
