Description: Locations of important marine floral habitats (sea loch egg wrack beds, seagrass beds, algal communities in low salinity water, tideswept algae, and kelp communities) and important species of coastal plants (Atriplex spp, Bolboschoe maritimus, Carex sp, Gentianella spp, Geranium sp, Hieracium spp, Mertensia maritima, Odontites verna, Ruppia spp, Salicornia spp, Suadeda maritima, and Taraxacum spp) within Shetland's waters, as plotted in Map 5b(xi) of the Shetland Marine Spatial Plan. Important marine algal habitats are BAP habitats, and may also be Habitats Directive Annex I and/or OSPAR habitats. Important rare coastal plants are indicative of Habitats Directive Annex I habitats. All are recommended to become Priority Marine Features. Locally compiled and validated dataset.
