Description: See Habitat Steering Team, Prioritization page for more information on how to best utilize landscape prioritization map products. Habitat Steering Team Prioritization (wistate.us)

Factors included in Oak Forest Scores:
WM District
One point if in district with oak forest listed as priority 1.
Ecological Landscape Landscape association with: Southern Dry Mesic, Southern Dry forest, Oak Woodland, Central Sands Pine – Oak Forest, Northern Dry Forest, Northern Dry Mesic Forest
- Major association = 1 point; Important association = .5 points
National Wild Turkey Federation Priority Landscapes
One point if in Driftless Area (oak focus)
General Land Office Notes, Pre-Euro settlement cover types
One point for areas classified as Oak Forest, Oak Woodland, and Oak Openings (these could not be separated in data source)
Climate Change Predictions (From climate change tree atlas – USFS): GCM8.5 Capability to Adapt metric. Counting both red oak and white oak separately (areas could get 2 points total, one from each species).
Capability to Adapt scores: Fair = 0.25 points; Good = .5 points; Very Good = 1 point; New Habitat = 1 point
SGCN species Occurrence maps from Breeding Bird Atlas II used for species listed on both Joint Venture Land Bird Plan and SGCN oak-associated list: red-headed woodpecker, whip-poor-will, and cerulean warbler.
One point per sp. per location, three points possible if all three species are present there.
COA, IBA, and ABP properties with primary goal oak management
One point if within Conservation Opportunity Areas, Important Bird Areas, and All Bird Plan properties with oak identified as significant component.
Extant Oak stands “O” (oak) stands from WisFirs
Removed stands with barrens prefix. For non-“O” areas, used Forest Inventory Analysis (FIA) data based on cumulative importance value (IV) of all oak species combined.
Within “O” oak forested stand buffer area = 1 point
     IV > 25 = 1 point; IV 10-25 = 0.5 points; IV 0.1 to 10 = 0.25 points; IV of 0 = 0 points
NHI Oak community
One point if within mapped element occurrence of oak woodland, southern dry, or southern dry mesic
Invasive Species Highlighted areas that are medium priority for oak and have very little invasive species pressure. Averaged invasive species coverage per FIA survey plot at HUC 8 level. For HUCs without an FIA plot, used average from surrounding HUCs. If area is already ranked Medium from all other input factors (score = 5 or 6) or greater AND has <5% average invasive species coverage, then 1 point assigned.

Interpolation performed to cover entire state. Point cut-offs: 0-4 = Low; 4.1-6 = Medium; >6 = High
