Description: To record the process we followed:
(1) Start with waterbodies_integrated v1.3 (or the latest version of the Univ. Melbourne waterbodies mapping, c. 69,000 polygons).
(2) Remove all polygons where WB_Class does not = ‘Natural’ (~14,000 polygons remaining)
(3) Ensure WB_Area field is correct and up-to-date.
(4) Remove all polygons with WB_Area < 1,000 sq m and where Source = “Extra by GraceGIS”.
(5) Delete Yarra River Estuary.
(6) Run query to identify all polygons intercepting DR_Natural_waterways_centreline, from this selection delete all where Source = “Extra by Grace GIS” and WB_name is blank/null and WB_number is null/blank.
(7) Scan by eye to detect farm dams, stream reaches, ovals, quarries, roadside ditches and other depressions still in layer – and delete these.
Step 7 is still ongoing ... never-ending... but what is attached is where I have got up to.
