Description: This dataset represents dissolving of an original dataset created for the Source Water Protection Program. The geologic formations boundaries were dissolved into one of the (7) basic rock types provided in the original dataset.
The original dataset was created by the intersection of two polygon layers created by PA-DCNR: the surface geology and physiographic layers. Each resulting polygon was assigned default well characteristics and geologic information. The geologic information was taken from the book "Engineering characteristics of Pennsylvania Rocks". The well characteristics were extracted from DEP's PADWIS database.
