Description: This feature class contains bird survey transect center points for the Integrated Monitoring in Bird Conservation Regions (IMBCR) program in 2024. Point locations represent the center of 1 km² grids, used as sampling units within IMBCR strata, specific areas of inference based on land management, ownership, or other fixed, physical attributes. Grid units were selected using a Generalized Random Tessellation Stratified (GRTS) design, which uses a spatially-balanced algorithm for sample selection. The IMBCR program was established by Bird Conservancy of the Rockies and other land management agencies to monitor bird populations, utilizing point counts as the primary sampling technique. The program was designed to be statistically rigorous, biologically accurate, and to produce data for analyses of population trends for most breeding diurnal landbird species. The sampling design allows for multi-scale estimates of density, occupancy, and population size to facilitate conservation and management efforts at local, regional, and national levels.
