Description: This data set is maintained by the CPW GIS Unit. Parcel boundaries are created by mapping legal descriptions contained in warranty deeds, quitclaim deeds, conservation agreements, and similar documents. All attribute data (such as Control Dates, Public Access, etc.) correspond to the interpretation of the legal transactions from CPW’s point of view. The boundaries of the CPW Parcels were digitized using COGO where metes and bounds were used in property deeds. The BLM's GCDB dataset (or the PLSS dataset where the GCDB dataset was unavailable) was used as a reference grid layer for property boundaries described using TRS. Since the source of this data is predominantly legal descriptions tied to GCDB corners and/or GPS control points this data should not be considered survey quality.
