Description: WolverinePotentialHabitat is an ESRI SDE feature class showing Potential Habitat for Wolverine in Colorado. Potential Habitat is defined as those areas of primary Wolverine habitat for resident adults having the highest potential for Wolverine occurrences in Colorado. This information was derived from modeling potential Wolverine habitat by Robert Inman; Director, Greater Yellowstone Wolverine Program, Wildlife Conservation Society. Wolverine is primarily associated with high-elevation habitats in the Rocky Mountains containing the arctic and subarctic conditions they require.This generalized graphic representation of species range data is provided for informational purposes only and has not been prepared for, nor is it suitable for, any type of legal, regulatory, or site specific planning purposes. These data are subject to errors and change. Users of the information displayed in this map service are strongly cautioned to verify all information and contact local CPW Biologists before making any decisions.While there was once a viable population of wolverine in Colorado, the last confirmed record was from 1919. However, in 2009, researchers from the Wildlife Conservation Society tracked a wolverine into northcentral Colorado.These data were last updated in 2010.
