This feature class represents the six PCTA regions and each region's associated five subregions. The purpose of the feature dataset is to roughly identify area of interests of trail and land protection projects with reference to the PCTA Trail Operations regions.

The regions are classified as the following:

1.Southern California

2. Southern Sierra

3. Northern Sierra

4. Big Ben

5. Columbia Cascades

6. North Cascades

Each region was split up into five subregions of equal trail length. They are labeled a through e, with a at the southern most extent of the region and e at the northern most extent.
